The creation and philosophy of Fireflies are based on a blend of cutting-edge psychologies, where theories and practices converge to advocate for the holistic development of the individual.
Firstly, it draws from third-generation psychological currents, particularly Positive Psychology and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which seek to enhance emotional well-being and personal growth through proactive approaches and effective communication techniques. Additionally, it is inspired by Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which posits that intelligence is not limited to a single capacity but manifests in various forms and skills, from linguistic to interpersonal and intrapersonal realms.
At Fireflies, we have developed a unique methodology for our interventions that places special emphasis on prioritizing work on interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences. We have realized that these two intelligences are fundamental, as they provide the necessary solid foundation for maximum growth, both personally and academically.
Through our methodology, we dedicate significant time and resources to cultivate and strengthen these intelligences, recognizing that they are the key to the integral development of the individual. We understand that without a solid foundation in these areas, progress in other intelligences may be limited. Therefore, at Fireflies, we are committed to ensuring that all our interventions effectively address these intelligences, providing our students with the necessary tools to reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives.
Our work is also grounded in the following of and admiration for many renowned authors, psychologists, and neuroscientists whose contributions have been significant in the field of human development. Among them are figures such as Mario Alonso Puig, whose focus on personal growth and emotional well-being has inspired many of our practices. Ken Robinson, known for his advocacy for creativity and innovation in education, has influenced our conception of a more flexible and individualized educational approach. Marian Rojas Estapé, with her perspective on mental health and emotional balance, has provided us with a deeper understanding of the importance of emotional management in integral development. And Daniel Goleman, a pioneer in the study of emotional intelligence, has been a source of inspiration for integrating this crucial dimension into our interventions. These authors and many others have enriched our practice and have contributed to shaping our holistic vision of human development.
